Step 18: Now I want to draw a Gift box with selection tools. I’ll draw only the base shape of the box. I open a new layer Group and I open a new layer and name it as “box 1” In the toolbox, select the Polygonal Lasso tool. With this tool make a gift box shape selection. I start by drawing a selection on a new layer for the gift box shape I’d like to paint. Once I’m happy with the shape I start to block in the main color. if you ask why I use Polygonal Lasso Tool instead of Magnetic or Lasso Tool it is because of the Polygonal Lasso tool is used to draw straight line selections. You can make the polygonal lasso tool work just like the regular lasso tool by holding down the Alt/Option key to draw freehand selection.
Step 19: Select the Polygonal Lasso tool. Use the Paint Bucket tool to fill in the selection with a yellow color. Next step is to d roughly paint in the shadow areas on the new layer. After the shadows are painted in I start erasing the parts of the shadows I don’t need. You must deselect after adding some shadows. Click Ctrl+D to deselect.
Step 20: Open a new layer, to make a new layer, click the new layer icon in the layers palett and name it as “ribbon”Now in the same way as Step 15, select the Polygonal Lasso tool. use the Paint Bucket tool to fill in the selection with a ribbon coloryellow color.
Step 21: Next step is to do roughly paint in the shadow areas on the new layer. After the shadows are painted, I start erasing the parts of the shadows I don’t need. You must deselect after adding some shadows. Click Ctrl+D to deselect. Here this is the simple coloring. On this panel you can use those colors for shading your gift box ribbon.
Step 22: Click on the foreground color in the Color Well, which near the bottom of the Photoshop toolbox. When you do this, the “Color Picker” dialog box will show up on the screen. Ok now you can use the color slider in the middle of the “Color Picker” dialog box to slide to the color range you want to use. when you do this, the range of colors within the one color will be displayed in the color field on the left side of the dialog box.
Step 23: Here as you see, you can select one of the “R,” “G” or “B” options to control the amount of red, green and blue that makes up your chosen color. You can type in a new amount or use the color field to control the amount of these. Change the “LAB” values on the right side of the dialog box to change the luminance of the chosen color.
