Hey everybody
I just opened up my store with some of my personal artworks at zazzle.com, and all promotion would be very much appreciated! Soon, I will be sharing some different illustrations in cards. So please check out some of the ornaments and greeting cards among other Post card ideas. You can view and/or purchase my other illustrations at zazzle.com on my store Gallery.
Here is another tutorial from www.3d2dizayn.com. This is a brief collection of fancy trick that Photoshop does not explain…and therefore the awesomeness is frequently overloked. It took a long time to figure this stuff out, so I figured I should share my knowledge about this. Here as you are going to see on this tutorial, these are all the secrets I use on rare occassions I can force myself to paint.
Tutorial Details
* Program: Adobe Photoshop
* Wacom Graphire 3 USB (Blue)
* Difficulty: Intermediate
* Completion Time: 1-2 hours
Note: This is a short step-by-step how I went about coloring the above image. Though this sketch colored in Adobe Photoshop you might be able to replicate the same of the techniques in other programmes like Corel Painter and PAint Tool SAI or in other programmes.
* Source files for this tutorial are available.

Fruits have long been placed in still life paintings. Although occasionally selected by Renaissance painters, the fruits as a centerpiece subject appeared much more frequently in Post Impressionist paintings from such artists as Paul Cezanne, Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh.
Step 1: Before we start, I presume the reader (you that is) has some knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. But even if you don’t, this tutorial will still be useful for anyone that is starting off, or at an intermediate level. I have tried to explain everything in detail as much as I could. We are going to work on a still life painting. Painting still life is a great way to practice shading and color blending. First off all, I opened a new file in Adobe Photoshop.
Step 2: Then I create a new layer and name it as Pear_sketch. Go to the layers toolbox, if its not on the screen already select is from Window/Layers in the menu bar. Shortcut for new layer is (Ctrl +Shift + N). And then create another layer below that and name it as Pear_coloring. Actually it is more easy to practice drawing just one pear with a pencil in your sketch pad. Study the shape closely — most pears are generally uneven in shape. Use the eraser to start over, if necessary. Use the pencil to shade dark areas; use light strokes to create highlights.
Step 3: When I felt my sketch is quite nice I named my new layer name as ”Peach_sketch” You can use my psd file for the start. When you download the psd file you will see the sketch layer. You must give a name to your sketch layer too. I draw a quick sketch on this layer. You can draw a sketch like this by using either the traditional paper and pencil method or drawing on the computer. When sketching the main object I always work in one layer. On this stage the sketch is visible as a multiply layer over the painting layer. You can delete this sketch layer after finished the whole illustration.
Step 4: After finishing the the sketch, I set the sketch layer to “multiply”. I lock my sketch layer. And however, my tutorial won’t show you how to draw the sketch..but will teach you how to paint the sketch of a still life. Now here as you see I have 3 layers.
Step 5: Here are some Photoshop shortcuts for you. You will find how these shortcuts can speed up your productivity.
B = Brush tool
D = Default color
E = Eraser tool
H = Hand tool
Ctrl+J = Copy current layer
Ctrl+N = New document
Ctrl+S = Save document
Ctrl+Z = Undo
Ctrl+Shift+S = Save as
Ctrl+Shift+N = New layer
Step 6: Painting fruits is a great way for practice for shading and color blending for beginners. For my still life painting I used a pretty limited palette. And here are my colour selection. You must go to the Color palette and actually select the individual colors that you want to. If you don’t like your color scheme at this stage it doesn’t matter for now. You can make some changes later. The second thing here you to choose color scheme. I want to do something really colourful and warm colours for my still life painting. For background, I decided dark green or blue colours . Open an another file and save your colours. And always keep open that new file when you are painting.
Step 7: They say “digital painting is much easier with a tablet than mouse” I really agree with this because I was using mouse when I start to learn Adobe Photoshop digital painting. For my painting I am going to use only s standart brushes with some different pen pressure settings. Let me show how I arrange my brushes.
