The meaning of this Making of is to teach you quick and effective techniques for creating high resolution organic models. Let’s take a look…if you want to modeling, I really suggest you use Autodesk 3dsmax because it is very easy the workflow is excellent. For this 3d head model tutorial, you will need at least an intermediate knowledge of 3DS Max, or your preferred 3d application. You can use the same technique with Maya or XSI ofcourse. In this tutorial I will show you how to model a stuffed doll.
Step 1: Before you start, download this picture:
Step 2: We’ll begin with the reference. In the front viewport create a Plane and assign the reference on it. And type in the reference’s dimensions to the plane’s parameter. So you will not need to assign a UVW map to the plane.
Step 3: Create a Sphere, place it on to the blueprint and after converting it to Editable Poly delete half of it. Then copy that and turn 90 degree and place it as you see below. For better view assign an opacity map to the left sphere.
Step 4: Select the front vertex and pressing Ctrl on keyboard click edge sub object level. Then Remove that edges.
Step 5: Using Cut tool connect the vertex.
Step 6: After that begin shaping the vertices. There will be no eye or nose holes. Just a plain round head. You can easily get the desired shape.
Step 8: And there will be a curve instead of a neck. So try to get a right curve for the bottom part of the head.
