Step 7: I start to paint the background  first. In this step, I knew I wanted my background to look cloudy, with some white big clouds. in  this step I added some rough clouds on the sky.  Using my Airbrush Pen I painted the white cloud on a separate layer. And then merge the layer to Background Layer.

Step 8: As you see from my sketch work these initial sketches are sometimes completely not  well enough but you  know you can fix things later. Here is a close screenshot from the basic colouring. Here after choosing the face colour I started blocking in the face. I always work my shadows first and save my lighter tones and hot whites till last.

Step 9: I also add all the details of the character, the face  and the hairstyle of the character which is the most colourful element of the composition.  I continue to  adding more details. At this point I realized that background color  not so good, so I thought it was time to find a better color for the sky. And maybe I can paint some clouds too.  Pay atention to her eye colour and  it’s brigh area.  I used Colour Dodge tool for the shiny areas.

Step 10: Now I do wish my file is to be more bigger size because at this stage I do think I can’t make so much detailed painting.  So I open Image/Image Size and make the number settings 2500×3444. And now  we can easily begin to adding details to her hair.

Step 11: Here take a look at the hair.  This is very important.  Don’t use black for the hair shadow.  Black is the color  which looks good in the comic drawings but  not so good  in painting works such like this work.  Choose a more darker red colour for the shadows.

Step 12: I make a new layer and began to paint the butterfly as you see. Butterfly  layer is over the character colour  layer.  I continue to adding more details for the butterfly. And as you see there is a new layer also with the name flowers. Now take a look at all details which I just make.

Step 13: I’ll now work more on the wing for more details. Here I’m pulling down the butterfly layer for you to see the exact shape of it. . From here you can see the colors and shapes at a very basic level.

I love paint-by-number projects. I actually frame them and hang them up. This is a pretty still life – hours of relaxation. Put on music and daub away. Have no natural skill as artest – so this makes me happy.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is required to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% sure. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
